For Referring Physicians
How to refer a patient to Elite Gastro, what we treat, and how we keep you informed.
Sending a Referral
Fax: 813-644-3307
Phone: 813-600-3709, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Please include the reason for referral, relevant office notes, recent labs, and any imaging reports. For suspected pancreatic or biliary pathology, the imaging report itself is the most useful thing you can send, since it determines whether the patient needs EUS, ERCP, or both.
If a patient needs to be seen urgently, call the office rather than faxing, and ask to speak with a member of our clinical staff.
Direct Access Colonoscopy
For average-risk patients due for screening who are otherwise healthy, direct access colonoscopy skips the consultation visit. Our clinical staff calls the patient directly to review history and schedule. This removes a visit from the pathway and usually gets the patient scheduled faster.
What We Treat
General gastroenterology and hepatology, including GERD and reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, constipation, fatty liver disease, hemorrhoids, and colorectal cancer screening.
Advanced Endoscopy
Not every GI practice offers these locally. Dr. Mina Elnemr completed additional fellowship training in therapeutic endoscopy and performs:
- Endoscopic ultrasound, with fine-needle biopsy — pancreatic cysts and masses, bile duct abnormalities, subepithelial lesions, and cancer staging
- ERCP, including in patients with surgically altered anatomy after gastric bypass
- Radiofrequency ablation for Barrett’s esophagus
- Endoscopic mucosal resection and submucosal dissection
- Luminal stenting and dilation
- Single balloon enteroscopy
If you have a patient who was told ERCP was not possible because of prior surgery, it is worth a call.
Where We See Patients
Offices in Tampa, Lutz, and Trinity, with one shared scheduling line. Procedures are performed at Tampa Bay Endoscopy Center, New Port Richey Surgery Center, and BayCare Surgery Center in Trinity.
Hospital affiliations: HCA Florida Trinity, HCA Florida South Tampa, AdventHealth Carrollwood, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and BayCare Morton Plant North Bay Hospital.
Communication Back to You
Consultation notes and procedure reports are sent to the referring physician. Pathology results are typically available about a week after a procedure and are reviewed with the patient at follow-up. If you would prefer a phone call on a specific patient, note that on the referral and we will call.
Please note: we do not have a physician on call after hours. Patients with urgent or emergent symptoms should be directed to the nearest emergency department.
